PHOENIX — A holiday lantern arts festival that features 10 million lights and 75 displays is opening in Phoenix on Friday.

Lights of the World will run four nights a week plus holidays until Jan. 12 at the state fairgrounds near 19th Avenue and McDowell Road.

The show combines the Chinese tradition of lantern festivals with modern technology and lights, according to the event website.

Two separate shows on the fairgrounds — the Sea Lion Splash and Puppetone Rockers — are free with admission.

Tickets for the event start at $17.99 for adults. Discounts are available for children and seniors.

Those who want to purchase a season pass can do so for $45.

The lights show was supposed to open Thursday, but the threat of rain pushed the opening date to Friday.

It will be open Thursdays through Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The lights show will also be open on Christmas Eve, Christmas, Dec. 30, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
