PHOENIX — Liberty Market in downtown Gilbert will close for a renovation beginning Jan. 24 and lasting through the end of February, the restaurant announced Wednesday.

The renovation began Monday with a part of the restaurant’s interior being closed off as minor upgrades began before the full closure later in the month, according to a press release.

Liberty Market at the end of February will reopen for outdoor dining only prior to the full restaurant once again being available shortly thereafter.

The remodel will bring a revised seating layout with additional options such as traditional tables, booths and party or community dining areas, the restaurant said.

There will also be a waiting section where people can enjoy a beverage until a table becomes available, a dedicated area for to-go orders, as well as improvements to the exterior and patio.

“We’ve determined a redesign and a new layout will ensure our guests have a better experience from start to finish,” Joe Johnston, co-owner of Liberty Market, said in the release.

“While we’re doing these functional upgrades, we’re also taking the opportunity to give the entire restaurant a new look and feel that we hope will not only be more inviting visually, but physically. Rest assured, our cozy, comfortable family atmosphere that everyone loves will remain the same — but will be matched with added features to make each visit even more memorable.”

The restaurant said it would retain its full staff during the closure, giving them the option to earn their regular wages while doing volunteer work in the community.

An updated menu will also debut when the restaurant reopens, featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner options that include customer favorites along with new dishes.

Details for a grand re-opening celebration would be revealed soon, the restaurant said.
