Knife-wielding man fatally shot in Mesa road rage incident

PHOENIX – A knife-wielding man was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in an apparent road rage incident in Mesa, authorities said.
Officers responded to a shooting call at Dobson Road and Southern Avenue just before 12:30 p.m. and found 49-year-old Felipe Cisneros lying in a parking lot with gunshot wounds, the Mesa Police Department said in a press release Monday.
He died after being taken to a hospital.
Another man at the scene told police he shot Cisneros because Cisneros was coming at him with a knife. The shooter then called 911.

Police said the two men exchanged words in a road rage incident before they pulled into the lot.
Surveillance video corroborated the man’s description of what happened, police said, and a knife was found on the ground near Cisneros.
The case remains under investigation, and no charges were filed as of Monday morning.
No other details were immediately available.
