PHOENIX — White House Senior Adviser Ivanka Trump touted her father’s policies and their impact on Arizona during an event with Gov. Doug Ducey in Phoenix on Wednesday.

She talked about tax cuts and the new U.S. trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, among other issues, during her first appearance in Arizona since President Donald Trump was elected in 2016.

“We’re very excited about building back an incredible, incredible economy,” she said. “We have no doubt that it will soar to new heights once we put this pandemic behind us and that we’ll actually be stronger as a result of many of the lessons learned.”

Ducey and several local business leaders also took turns speaking.

Earlier in the day, Ivanka Trump and the governor stopped at Phoenix’s Latinos for Trump office and worked on the phone bank.

Wednesday’s event, held at a downtown Phoenix events space, came two days after the president was in Phoenix for campaign event targeting Latino voters.

The attention from the GOP ticket will continue this week with second lady Karen Pence coming to the Valley for events Thursday and Friday, and Vice President Mike Pence arriving on Friday.

The White House parade to Arizona came the same week a new poll by Phoenix research firm OH Predictive Insights showed Democratic challenger Joe Biden leading the incumbent by 10 percentage points in the state.

Most polls show the race closer, with Biden’s lead at 5 points in the Arizona polling average compiled by FiveThirtyEight.com.

Neither member of the Democratic ticket has been in Arizona during the campaign season.

Sen. Kamala Harris, Biden’s running mate, spoke with state Latino business owners on Saturday during a virtual event.
