Huge motor sports park to be built near Phoenix

PHOENIX — A Phoenix-area company announced plans to construct a large motor sports park just outside the city.
Danrick Builders said the the 2,360-acre recreational park in Casa Grande, already named Attesa, could help drive the economy in Pinal County and offer educational partnerships to help universities conduct automotive research and development.
There were plans for a pair of tracks nearly 3 miles in size apiece, a karting track, a
performance driving center, a multi-surface racing and an event area.
The company said all stock cars, IndyCars and motorcycle series would be able to qualify at the site.
“Arizona already has the West’s best NASCAR track (Phoenix International Raceway),” Dan Erickson, principal of Danrick Builders, said in a release.
“By adding Attesa, Arizona will become an international racing destination.”
The park will also have a private airport with a 6,000-foot runway.
London-based race track engineering firm Apex Circuit Design has been chosen to design the project.
“Attesa will be an optimal racing entertainment destination that will draw
guests from all over the world, driving new jobs and contributing taxes to local
economies,” Erickson said.
“We’ll combine speed, luxury experiences and motor sports opportunities for individuals from all walks of life.”

The company said it plans to create long-term jobs for the region by drawing
from graduates of Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and the
state’s community colleges.
The county is “100 percent behind this project,” said Tim Kanavel, program
manager for Pinal County Economic Development.
“The Attesa community will be a complement to the nearby Nissan and Volkswagen test tracks. We are creating the center of automotive excellence in Arizona and that will be right here in Pinal County.”
Casa Grande is about 48 miles south of Phoenix.
