PHOENIX – Travelers arriving at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport will have a convenient hotel option just a short drive away.
The ribbon cutting for the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites located two miles away from the airport is scheduled to take place on Monday.
“With the influx of companies and visitors to Gilbert, this Holiday Inn Express & Suites offers an accessible, comfortable stay for both families and business travelers,” Jason Barney, president of land development company Barney Family Investments, Inc., said in a press release.
The hotel has 98 guest rooms, a 700-square-foot meeting space and exercise and pool facilities.
In total, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites is 55,000 square-feet.
There are currently five airlines that operate out of Gateway Airport, which has announced plans to open new routes this year to destinations including San Diego, Jackson Hole, Wyo. and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Gateway Airport is expanding to accommodate a variety of business needs. Projects at the airport include three new hangars, a hangar complex, corporate headquarters, a hotel and an industrial building. It is also partnering with SkyBridge for cargo shipping services to Mexico.
“Gilbert continues to grow as a community and see increased business investment and visitation,” Gilbert economic development director Dan Henderson said in a press release.
“The Holiday Inn Express is a welcome addition to accommodate our key markets of business travelers, youth sports, and those visiting to see family and explore Arizona.”
