Here is a list of Arizona school districts that are closed because of coronavirus

UPDATE: Gov. Doug Ducey and Superintendent Kathy Hoffman have enacted a statewide closure of schools through at least March 27. The below list is no longer being updated.

PHOENIX — Coronavirus fears have caused cancellations across the nation and state and now it is hitting Arizona’s schools.

Alhambra Elementary School District on Thursday became the first in the Valley to close schools due to virus concerns.

The school district said it didn’t have any known cases but “this decision is simply a precaution to ensure the health and well-being of all of our students and employees.”

Multiple other districts have followed suit.

Here’s a list of Arizona school districts that have announced coronavirus-related closures:

Tempe Elementary School District No. 3 — Starting March 16, all Tempe Elementary schools closed until further notice

American Leadership Academy — Spring break extended through March 20

Roosevelt School District — Starting March 16, closed until further notice

Isaac School District — Starting March 16, schools will remain closed and reopen on March 30

Creighton School District — Closed at least through March 20

Horizon Honors Schools — Schools are closed through March 20 with the intention to resume classes on March 23.

Littleton Elementary School District — Schools will remain closed through March 20 with students returning on March 23.

Litchfield Elementary School District — Starting March 16, closed until further notice

Pendergast Elementary School District — Starting March 16, closed until further notice

Balsz School District — Closed at least through March 20

Valley Christian Schools — School is postponed until March 18 when schools with transition to online learning through at least March 20.

Scottsdale Unified School District — Closed at least through March 27

Tolleson Union High School District — Closed at least through March 27

Agua Fria Union High School District — In a letter sent out to parents, students will not report to classes from March 16 to March 27.

Gilbert Public Schools — Starting March 17, closed indefinitely.

Phoenix Union High School District — At least the week of March 16. For Phoenix Union staff, the week of March 16 will be a work week to prepare for a possible long-term closure.

Great Hearts Academies — The charter school system with 22 metro Phoenix campuses is planning to resume classes March 23.

Tempe Elementary School District — Closed indefinitely

Tempe Union High School District — Closed indefinitely

Alhambra Elementary School District — Closed indefinitely

Cartwright School District — Closed indefinitely

Kyrene School District — Closed at least through March 20

Madison School District — Schools will remain closed until further notice following spring break, which is March 16-20.

Osborn School District — Closed indefinitely

Pima Unified School District — Closed March 12. Reported a staff member tested positive for coronavirus on March 13.

Dysart Unified School District — Closed through April 3.

Mesa Public Schools — Starting March 16, closed until further notice.

J.O. Combs Unified School District — As of March 14, the district will extend spring break through March 20 at a minimum.

Cave Creek Unified School District — Effective March 16, the district is closed through March 27, the end of spring break.

Laveen Elementary School District — Starting March 16, closed for at least a week.

Buckeye Unified School District — Closed until further notice.

Fountain Hills Unified School District — Closed for a minimum of one week starting March 16.

Fowler Elementary School District — Closed from March 16 through March 27.

Union Elementary School District — Closed starting March 16 for at least a week.
