PHOENIX — The Glendale Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a fatal hit-and-run that happened more than a year ago.

A red Cadillac sedan heading southbound around 6:20 p.m. struck Garry Nelson, 37, of Phoenix, when he was walking south in a two-way left turn lane on 51st Avenue just south of Missouri Avenue on Sept. 28, 2020, police said in a press release.

Nelson was thrown into northbound traffic and died on scene.

The driver of the red Cadillac left the scene and didn’t return, Glendale police said.

Authorities found the vehicle abandoned days later, a few miles away.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anybody with information about the case was asked to call the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-3000 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish.

We want to hear from you.
