Free Fishing Day in Arizona to take place on Saturday

PHOENIX — National Fishing and Boating Week kicks off on Saturday with Free Fishing Day in Arizona.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department announced on Wednesday that no fishing licenses will be required for those fishing in public waters.
“Whether you’re an experienced angler who wants to introduce a newcomer to the sport, or someone who’s always been interested but never took that next step, this is an ideal time to head out to your nearest community lake,” aquatic wildlife branch chief Christopher Cantrell said in a press release.
“Or take advantage of cooler weather by fishing a lake or stream in Arizona’s high country.”

However, bag limits and other fishing regulations will still remain in full effect.

Fishing licenses can be purchased online and cost $37 for Arizona residents, while children under the age of 10 can fish for free all year long.
