Former President Donald Trump scheduled to appear at Phoenix rally

PHOENIX — Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to appear this month at an event called the “Protect Our Elections Rally” in downtown Phoenix.
Turning Point Action, a youth activist affiliate of Charlie Kirk’s conservative Turning Point USA organization, is putting on the event July 24 at Arizona Federal Theatre.
Doors open at 9 a.m. and close at 4 p.m., with free entry on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is scheduled to end at 5 p.m., but the listing doesn’t say what time Trump is expected to appear.
People interested in attending can register for tickets through the listing.
Trump made multiple trips to Arizona during his unsuccessful reelection campaign, including for a Turning Point Action event at Phoenix’s Dream City Church in June 2020.
Trump’s upcoming visit will come around the time results of the partisan audit of the 2020 Maricopa County election are expected to be released.
Work on the contentious audit is ongoing at a smaller Arizona State Fairgrounds building after the operation had to vacate Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Senate spokesman Randy Pullen told a pool reporter Thursday that the “double- and triple-checking” of the work is expected to wrap up next week.
When the audit moved out of the Coliseum at the end of June, Pullen said the GOP-led state Senate expects findings to be released in late July or early August.
Senate President Karen Fann hired Cyber Ninjas to lead a group of contractors in the audit after taking Maricopa County to court to gain access to its ballots and voting machines. The only vote tallies under review are from presidential and U.S. Senate races, both won narrowly by Democrats in the county and statewide.
Fann has said the aim of the audit is to restore faith in the election system and find ways to improve Arizona’s voting laws, not to reverse the result of the election.
However, many Trump supporters still see it as part of a pathway to invalidating President Joe Biden’s victory and returning Trump to office.
