PHOENIX — Flexible workspace company Expansive has taken over a 20,000-square-foot location in downtown Mesa.

The Expansive Mesa at Newberry Station, located near Main and Center streets, opened in late November at the former site of the JJ Newberry variety store.

The location has private offices, coworking, event space and on-demand workspace that includes conference rooms and day offices.

Other features at the Chicago-based company’s location are two recording studios and an event space with a state-of-the-art projection screen.

“This has been a unique opportunity to contribute to rebuilding the economic heartbeat of an exciting community,” Bill Bennett, Expansive’s founder and CEO, said in a press release.

“Not only do we have a strikingly reimagined space, strong partners and enormous support from the city of Mesa, ASU, and others involved in the Innovation District, but Arizona has consistently proven its resilience and promise.

We look forward to becoming a resource for Mesa’s business community and to helping position it for success with this new center.”

Newberry Station is Expansive’s fourth foray in metro Phoenix. The company also has two locations in Phoenix and another in Chandler.

Expansive partnered with asset manager Caliber, which has a stake in other Mesa businesses, on the space.
