PHOENIX — Police identified the victim and arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting that happened in west Phoenix in August.

The Phoenix Police Department identified the victim as 41-year-old Cesar Aguilar on Friday night.

According to police, 32-year-old Jose McInturf was named as the suspect and was found and arrested on Thursday after an investigation.

Upon completion of an interview with authorities, McInturf was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery.

What happened in the shooting in west Phoenix?

On August 27 around 5:15 p.m. in the area of 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road, McInturf allegedly shot Aguilar.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Aguilar suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, police said.
