PHOENIX – A multivehicle injury crash shut down an East Valley freeway during most of the Wednesday morning commute, state transportation officials said.
Westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway was closed at Van Buren Street near the Tempe/Phoenix border from around 6 a.m. until shortly before 9 a.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said four vehicles collided and one person was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
ADOT cameras showed the wreck at State Route 143 also involved a dump truck. One of the cars was smashed from top to bottom.
