PHOENIX — Arizona Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at half-staff on Sunday in honor of National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Flags at all state buildings are to be lowered from sunrise to sunset.

“As we recognize National peace Officers memorial Day and enter Police Week, we honor our law enforcement heroes who laid down their lives to protect others and those who continue to put the safety of fellow Arizonans first,” Ducey said in a press release.

In early May, Ducey paid tribute to the 26 lives lost in the line of duty last year, calling it a “sobering reminder of the ultimate sacrifice men and women of law enforcement make every single day.”

“Arizona will never forget those who lost their lives in the line of duty, and we thank those who put on the uniform every day and make our state a safer place,” Ducey said.

We want to hear from you.
