PHOENIX – Eventually the Arizona heat will step aside for cooler temperatures and when it does viewing art from local artists isn’t a bad way to enjoy the nice weather.

The city of Chandler is returning its free Downtown Art Walk that will showcase established and new artists in the community.

In partnership with the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership (DCCP), the art walk will run every Sunday throughout October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., starting this weekend. The dates are Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27.

“Downtown Chandler is always a popular destination with its mix of shops, restaurants and events,” Councilmember Matt Orlando said in a press release. “I am pleased that the city was able to work with the DCCP to make the Downtown Art Walk one more reason to visit this fall and promote the creativity within our community.”

The art booths will display a range of crafts such as ceramics, jewelry and photography. Attendants will also be treated to live music and local dance performances.

The booths can be found in Dr. A.J. Chandler Park along Commonwealth Avenue and under the colonnade of San Marcos Place and Boston Street.

There will be free parking, including five parking garages on the east and west sides of Arizona Avenue.

We want to hear from you.
