PHOENIX — One person has died after a three-vehicle crash in Phoenix on Thursday night, authorities said

At 9 p.m., police responded to a crash involving three vehicles on 43rd and Northern avenues. Upon arrival, officers discovered 37-year-old Adam Bates, who later died on scene due to injuries he sustained in the crash.

An investigation revealed Bates was a passenger in a vehicle driving north on 43rd Avenue when it was struck by an SUV driven by 46-year-old Richard McKinney. Bates’ vehicle was spun into traffic and hit another vehicle driving south.

McKinney was taken to the hospital and was later booked into jail on several charges, including manslaughter, aggravated assault and endangerment.

No others were injured in the crash, according to authorities.
