PHOENIX — Two people were killed and two others were injured in a fiery multivehicle crash in Mesa that caused a chemical spill on Friday morning, authorities said.
One of the vehicles was on fire when crews reached the scene at the intersection of Country Club Drive and US 60 (Superstition Freeway), according to the Mesa Fire and Medical Department.
A pool-cleaning truck was also involved, so firefighters also had to deal with a chemical spill, too.

The crash in Mesa occurred just after 7:30 a.m. and was caused by a pickup truck driver who may have been impaired, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The car was pushed into a black SUV in front of it, and the debris from the impact damaged a gray pickup truck that also was waiting at the light, DPS said.
The two occupants of the red car were pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the white pickup and black SUV were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.
