Chandler Flex to provide alternative ride-share option to East Valley...

PHOENIX — Looking for new transportation options in the city of Chandler will get a little easier with the launch of Chandler Flex, a new on-demand transportation service to the local area.

The service allows passengers to request a ride via mobile app or by calling a phone number which will hail a minivan to designated stops where a driver will sent.

Rides will accommodate multiple passengers and shared rides are to be expected during trips.

“The city of Chandler is proving itself to be a leader in providing reliable, convenient and safe transit options,” Mayor Kevin Hartke said in a release.

Chandler Flex will launch on July 12 and operate Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The program was initiated thanks to a $2 million grant from the A for Arizona Transportation Modernization Grant Program.

Chandler Flex will offer rides for passengers to an area in Chandler between Chandler Boulevard and Chandler Heights Road (north and south) and from Price Road and Arizona Avenue (west and east).

The service offers stops at 13 various locations and five additional schools.

Chandler Flex could offer an alternative to Uber and Lyft in the area.

Google-backed Waymo, which offers an autonomous ride-share service, is also based out of Chandler.
