PHOENIX — The Cave Creek Museum announced earlier this month that it would construct the Veterans Memory Garden as a way to honor those who served, as well as unknown fallen soldiers.

The new garden, inspired by the “Tomb of the Unknown Soldier” in Arlington, Virginia, will have six flags to mark the sections of the cemetery which will represent each branch of the military, according to a press release.

“This amazing garden will be created in honor of veterans,” Evelyn Johnson, executive director for the museum, said in the release. “Veterans Memory Garden will be a dignified, peaceful place to reflect on veterans’ service, to think about family history and to reflect on the freedoms we have today. We know it will be a point of pride for the community.”

At the center of the garden, there are also plans to honor local and fallen veterans.

Community partners will work alongside the museum to make the project come together, the release said.

Those interested in donating or getting involved in the project were encouraged to visit online.

Visitors can swing by the museum from October through May.
