PHOENIX – The 3-year-old subject of an Amber Alert out of Tennessee who was thought to have been in Arizona recently was found safe Thursday in California, authorities said.
Noah Clare was located just outside of San Clemente, and 35-year-old Jacob Clare was taken into custody, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced.
Authorities said Amber Clare, Noah’s 16-year-old cousin, also had been traveling with them and was safe.
No charges were immediately announced and it wasn’t known if Jacob Clare has an attorney. He’s being held in California pending extradition to Tennessee, Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes said at a Thursday afternoon news conference.
Noah hadn’t been seen since Nov. 6 in Gallatin, Tennessee. Jacob, his father, was wanted for aggravated kidnapping and custodial interference.
The boy was reported missing by his mother on Nov. 7 after Jacob, her ex-boyfriend, didn’t return Noah after a scheduled visitation, the Nashville Tennessean reported.
Amber was reported missing by the Beaver Dam Police Department in Ohio County, Kentucky, according to the Tennessean.
An Endangered Child Alert was issued on Nov. 9 and elevated to an Amber Alert on Tuesday.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety also activated an Amber Alert because the vehicle they were believed to be traveling in was seen recently on State Route 95 heading toward Parker, near the California border in La Paz County.
The 2005 Subaru Legacy was found loaded with clothing and camping gear in San Clemente, which is south of Los Angeles, later Tuesday.
Authorities believe Jacob purchased the vehicle a week before Noah was reported missing.
