Arizona to receive 100 additional ventilators to fight coronavirus

PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced on Friday that Arizona would receive 100 more ventilators from the strategic national stockpile to fight the coronavirus outbreak.

“I want to thank President Trump for his leadership and responsiveness during this pandemic,” Ducey said in a press release.

“As Arizona prepares for an anticipated peak of COVID-19 cases, these ventilators will add to our surge capacity and help us prepare in our tribal communities and elsewhere.”

Along with U.S. Sen. Martha McSally, Ducey made the request for the additional supplies amid the outbreak in the state.

Ducey said he spoke with Trump on Wednesday about the request.

The ventilators will be shipped to the state’s staging area and will deployed to where they are most needed, including the tribal nations.

“Our tribal communities remain top of mind,” Ducey said. “I’ve been in touch with Navajo President Nez and Vice President Lizer about the need for additional supplies, personnel and ventilators.”

As of Friday morning, Arizona had reported 3,112 cases of coronavirus with 92 deaths.

We want to hear from you.
