PHOENIX — The Arizona Humane Society has rescued an unlikely pair of best buddies that won’t be separated any time soon.
Timon and Pumbaa, the chihuahua and pig combo aptly named after the meerkat and warthog characters from “The Lion King,” were picked up earlier this month after their owner was arrested on non-animal cruelty related charges.
The duo’s bond continued at the shelter, where Pumbaa would often allow Timon to ride on his back.
Pumbaa needed medical care, however, which might have caused the pals to be separated.
Thankfully, a Cave Creek pig rescue stepped up to keep the buddies together.
Timon and Pumbaa were taken in this weekend by Better Piggies Rescue.
