PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey on Wednesday denounced threats against Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, who is being harassed by individuals who continue to push unsubstantiated claims of election fraud.

“That is unacceptable,” Ducey said during a press conference. “Completely unacceptable and I denounce any threats of violence against anyone in elected office or any Arizonan or American.”

Video obtained by ABC15 shows protestors outside of Hobbs’ home repeatedly asking for an audit of results and threatening the Democrat.

Hobbs, in a statement released Wednesday, said her family and staff have been the subjects of threats since the election.

The Republican governor said that he’s working with Hobbs’ office to provide Department of Public Safety resources if necessary.

“We will do whatever it takes to protect Secretary Hobbs,” Ducey said.

Stephen Richer, a Republican who won election for Maricopa County recorder, also urged threats against fellow elections official Hobbs to stop.

“Violent threats and protests outside the secretary’s home are unacceptable. Full stop. Don’t do it,” Richer said in a tweet.

Ducey praised Arizona’s election system but wouldn’t say that widespread election fraud didn’t occur in the state.

The Arizona Republican Party on Monday asked a judge to bar Maricopa County from certifying its Nov. 3 election results, including Democrat Joe Biden’s win over President Donald Trump, until the court issues a decision about the party’s lawsuit seeking a new hand-count of a sampling of ballots.

A hearing on the case was scheduled for Wednesday.

All other legal attempts to prove voter fraud in Arizona have been dismissed or debunked.

“We are going to allow whatever legal challenges that come to be swiftly adjudicated inside the state of Arizona and I will respect the election results,” Ducey said.

We want to hear from you.
