Arizona employees are quitting jobs at top 5 rate in US, per WalletHub

Sep 21, 2022, 4:05 AM

PHOENIX — In Arizona, folks seem to be bypassing the rage of quiet quitting and skipping ahead to simply resigning from positions in the state workforce.

Economists are dubbing the trend of employees quitting as the “Great Resignation,” and a recently published study from a personal finance website says Arizona is among the leaders in national resignation rates.

WalletHub found that the resignation rate in Arizona over the last month is the fourth-highest at 4.10%.

Only Georgia (4.80%), Kentucky (4.40%) and Tennessee (4.30%) had higher rates during that timespan than the Grand Canyon State.

The monthly rate for Arizona is a concerning development compared to how the state has fared through the past 12 months.

Arizona’s yearly resignation rate is nearly .6% less than what it was this past month and comes in ranked eighth in the nation at 3.51%.

All of the states ranked ahead of Arizona in yearly resignation rates have seen increases in their percentages over the past month except for Alaska.

However, the nation’s northern-most state still comes in with the highest rate over the last year as the only state over 4%, coming in at 4.17%.

Georgia is nearing the yearly 4% threshold with a 3.98% rate over the last 12 months.

New York and Washington D.C. were first and second with the lowest resignation rates for both monthly and yearly figures and were the only two states with resignation rates under 2% over the last 12 months.
