PHOENIX — A Phoenix-area economist believes Arizona is poised for a healthy 2018.
The state added more high paying jobs in 2017, which has Jim Rounds thinking the new year should be even better, possibly in the top five nationally when it comes to job growth.
“We’ve been working hard on regulatory reform and economic development programs,” said the president of Phoenix-based Rounds Consulting, which specializes in economic development and tax policy research.
“We’re doing a lot of things right. After analyzing this economy for a couple of decades, it wasn’t that many years ago where our summary was: here’s 10 things the state is doing wrong.”
He attributed support for NAFTA from state leadership but added, “there’s critique of it coming out of Washington, D.C.”
Rounds said nationally the stock market gains and economic reform topped his list of the biggest bright spots for the economy.
