GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Arizona Coyotes hockey team was out in full force on Monday — not on the ice, but on grass and dirt.

Coach Dave Tippett and all of his players joined the City of Glendale and KaBOOM! to transform Bonsall Park North near 58th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Glendale. The updated playground features intelligent new activities and Coyotes-branded signage.

“It doesn’t matter who you are, it’s important to be out here supporting the community,” said defenseman Keith Yandle. “People come out and support us at the games, we love to help out when we can.”

More than 53,640 square feet of safety surfacing were used in the playground’s design.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place to dedicate the park to the city. As many as 1,000 children in the nearby area are expected to use the playground.

We want to hear from you.
