PHOENIX — An 8-year-old boy died on Thanksgiving Day after being seriously injured from a statue that fell on him Wednesday morning at the Arizona Biltmore resort in Phoenix, authorities said.
“On Nov. 28, 2024, the child involved in this tragic accident succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital. There are no signs of foul play at this time. There will be no other updates to this case,” Phoenix Police Department Sgt. Robert Scherer said in an email to KTAR.

Firefighters responded to an injury call at the iconic luxury resort around 9 a.m., according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Capt. Todd Keller told KTAR News 92.3 FM that “some sort of cement, concrete statue” fell on an 8-year-old boy, who was rushed to a hospital extremely critical condition.
“We don’t know really … what was going on right beforehand,” Keller said. “They’re still trying to figure out exactly what happened.”
Firefighters quickly responded to Arizona Biltmore
Keller praised the firefighters for their rapid response.
“In situations like this, the best thing that can happen is that the child gets transported to that hospital as quickly as they can, and that’s exactly what these firefighters did,” he said. “They were able to arrive quickly … and transport this child to a pediatric emergency center.”
The Arizona Biltmore is a landmark resort at 24th Street and Missouri Avenue, between Camelback Road and Lincoln Drive.
The property was sold in a $705 million deal earlier this year.
