PHOENIX — Another Sears location in metro Phoenix is about to close its doors for good.
The struggling retailer is shutting down the store and auto center at a Glendale mall, ABC15 reported.
The store will close in early July and the auto center will close in late May, the same month that liquidation sales are expected to begin.
It is the latest in a string of closures in metro Phoenix. Stores in cities such as Mesa, Phoenix and Chandler have already shut down.
A representative told the television station that the Arrowhead Town Center location will close after Transform Holdco LLC “decided not to acquire the current lease for the unprofitable Sears store.”
Transform Holdco LLC acquired Sears Holdings Corporation assets after the company filed bankruptcy in October.
Eligible employees will receive severance and can apply for open positions at other Sears and Kmart stores.
No other Arizona locations are affected. There are eight metro Phoenix stores remaining, and several others across Arizona.
