PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation is continuing essential services and taking proactive measures as part of the state’s response to COVID-19.

As cases of the coronavirus continue to increase throughout Arizona and the U.S., ADOT’s top priority is to ensure a safe and reliable transportation system across the state’s more than 7,000 miles of highway, according to the department’s website.

ADOT is taking steps to achieve this via 24/7 dispatcher surveillance of Arizona roads, keeping open its rest areas, aiding the Arizona Department of Public Safety in providing relief to trucks requiring emergency assistance, maintaining operations of its Incident Response Unit and utilizing heightened sanitation practices at all facilities.

“Throughout it all, ADOT staff – from every corner of the state – remain committed to supporting the people of Arizona and those who are moving critical goods into and through our state,” ADOT Director John Halikowski said.

“We remain committed to supporting Governor Ducey and his leadership as we navigate this situation together, as a state.”

ADOT has also taken steps to safeguard the health of its employees and the public by limiting necessary interactions.

Office visits are now restricted to those transactions that must be done in person — and by appointment only.

Most ADOT transactions can be done online.

ADOT anticipates no disruption to the department’s construction and improvement projects.

We want to hear from you.
