9 Arizona Powerball tickets get $50K consolation prizes in record drawing

Nov 8, 2022, 2:08 PM

PHOENIX – Arizona missed out on the record $2.04 billion jackpot, but the state didn’t come up empty in Tuesday morning’s delayed Powerball drawing.

Nine Grand Canyon State tickets combined to win $450,000 by matching four of the five white balls plus the red Powerball.

The winning numbers — 10, 33, 41, 47, 56 and the red Powerball 10 — were selected nearly 10 hours after the scheduled Monday night drawing because of problems processing sales data at one of the game’s member lotteries.

Four of Arizona’s $50,000 winners were sold in the Valley, including two at Chandler grocery stores:

  • Safeway, 4970 S. Alma School Road, Chandler.
  • Fry’s, 2010 S. Alma School Road, Chandler.
  • Walmart, 1606 S. Signal Butte Road, Mesa.
  • CVS, 3610 W. Anthem Way, Anthem.

The other five were scattered across the state:

  • Saya Mustang, 609 E. Route 66, Williams.
  • Beaver Dam Lodge, 451 County Highway 91, Littlefield.
  • Safeway, 13380 E. Mary Ann Cleveland Way, Vail.
  • Circle K, 360 E. Patagonia Highway, Nogales.
  • Last Stop Travel Center, 20331 N. U.S. Highway 93, White Hills.
  • The record-shattering jackpot ticket was sold at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, an unincorporated community in the foothills northeast of Los Angeles.

For selling the winning ticket, Joe’s Service Center will receive a maximum Powerball bonus of $1 million.

The $2.04 billion jackpot was by far the largest lottery prize ever won, topping the previous record $1.586 billion prize won by three Powerball ticketholders in 2016.

Only four previous jackpots have topped $1 billion, but none of those are close to the current prize, which started at $20 million back on Aug. 6 and has grown over three winless months. No one had won the jackpot since Aug. 3.
