PHOENIX — It’s another year for Arizona State University at the peak of U.S. News & World’s ranking for innovation.

The Tempe university was No. 1 in innovation for an eighth consecutive year, beating out fellow top-5 schools Georgia State, Carnegie Mellon, MIT and Stanford.

“Innovation has the power to create better lives for all, and our collective future holds limitless potential, opportunity and inspiration to manifest a healthy, equitable and just tomorrow,” ASU President Michael Crow said in a press release.

“ASU welcomes the chance to dream with others and to work together to make those dreams a reality.”

ASU touted its implementation of the LIFT Initiative to address inequities in academia and launch of the New Economy Initiative to bring new, high-wage jobs to Arizona for its top performance.

Schools were chosen on who is making the most innovative improvements in curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology and facilities.

College presidents, provosts and admissions deans nominated institutions.

In the overall ranking for best colleges in the nation, UArizona was the highest in the state, coming in at No. 105.

ASU was ranked No. 121 and Northern Arizona was No. 317.
