PHOENIX — A 73-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after driving into a Gilbert building on Tuesday, authorities said.

Police received reports of the incident at about 12:40 p.m. and responded to the scene around the Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center near Val Vista Drive and Loop 202 Santan Freeway.

When the incident occurred, six people were in the immediate area inside and none sustained serious injuries.

Authorities said the incident was a result of the woman experiencing a medical emergency. The degree of her injuries was unspecified.

This is an ongoing investigation.
