PHOENIX — A third round of federal grants for infrastructure improvements will give five Arizona airports more than $2.5 million, the Federal Aviation Administration announced Tuesday.

The H.A. Clark Memorial Field Airport in Williams will receive $950,000 for runway, taxiway and apron improvements while the Grand Canyon West Airport will receive $900,000 to buy an aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle.

The Whiteriver Airport, Bullhead City Airport and Safford Regional Airport are the other airports who will receive the grants.

In the first round of funding, 17 Arizona airports were awarded $21 million.

Thirteen airports were part of the second round of funding in the agency’s Airport Improvement Program.

The FAA will give a total of $3.18 billion to U.S. airports as part of its program.

“This significant investment in airport improvements in Arizona will fund construction and rehabilitation projects that will help maintain high levels of safety in U.S. aviation,” U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao said in a press release.
