3 ‘Fast Saga’ movie cars for sale at Scottsdale’s Barrett-Jackson auction

PHOENIX – Buckle up and hold on tight.
Three cars from the “Fast Saga” movie collection are hitting the block during Saturday’s session of the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale.
Two were seen on screen with star Vin Diesel behind the wheel, including a 1981 Buick Regal that was customized to represent a 1987 Buick Grand National for 2009’s “Fast & Furious,” the fourth film of the series.
The 1949 Chevy Fleetline that Diesel’s Dominic Toretto character raced through the streets of Cuba in 2017’s “The Fate of the Furious” may look like a rustbucket, but the car’s less-than-pristine appearance was customized by the film’s production crew, according to the auction description.
The third entry from the collection is the 1956 Ford Fairlane that raced against Diesel in “The Fate of the Furious,” which was the eighth movie of the series. Don’t plan to drive this one home, because the engine and transmission were taken out and moved into another car.
The 50th anniversary edition of the auction started last weekend at WestWorld of Scottsdale and concludes Sunday. It’s being televised by FYI and the History Channel and livestreamed on Barrett-Jackson’s website.
Barrett-Jackson holds live auctions each year in Houston, Las Vegas, Palm Beach (Florida) and Scottsdale and is no stranger to cars connected to the “Fast Saga” franchise.
Last summer, a 1994 Toyota Supra driven by the late Paul Walker in the first two films of the series sold for $550,000 at the Las Vegas auction.
In January 2020, 21 cars from Walker’s personal collection, including a custom 2009 Nissan 370Z that appeared in “Fast Five,” were sold in Scottsdale, fetching more than $2 million.
Walker was killed in 2013 when a Porsche he was riding in crashed at more than 100 mph in Los Angeles.
