1 woman and 1 child dead, 3 other children injured in Phoenix crash

PHOENIX — A woman and one of her four children are dead after a crash in Phoenix on Friday afternoon, according to Phoenix police.
Police identified the victims as 25-year-old Kristina Lara and two-month-old Josiah Lara on Saturday.
Officers responded to a crash that happened at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road around 1:20 p.m. on Friday.
Officers found the 25-year-old and her four children, all passengers, with injuries.
Kristina and Josiah were taken to the hospital in critical condition, and both later died.
Her three other children were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
What happened in the fatal crash in Phoenix?
Detectives believe that a 23-year-old man was driving a silver sedan at high speed and weaving in and out of traffic while heading southbound on 19th Avenue. The 23-year-old then accelerated through a yellow light and crashed into a black pickup truck.
A 75-year-old man was driving the black pickup truck and tried to make a left turn onto Lower Buckeye which resulted in the head-on crash. The 75-year-old man was uninjured and remained on the scene.
The final charging decision will be made once the crash reconstruction is completed, according to authorities.
