Time publishes photos of President Obama at his senior prom

Time magazine has obtained exclusive photos of President Barack Obama attending his senior prom in 1979.

Time received the photos from the president's former classmate, Kelli Allman (nee McCormack). The photos show the president and his closest friend Greg Orme with their dates before attending the dance.

Obama, who attended the Punahou School in Hawaii, took Megan Hughes, who attended the Hawaii School for Girls at La Pietra.

Michael Smith is an intern in the news section of DeseretNews.com. A 2013 graduate of the University of Utah, he will be attending Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism in the fall.

Huge tornado rocks Oklahoma causing severe damage

The city of Moore, Okla., just outside of Oklahoma City, was hit by a mile-wide tornado on Monday afternoon.

This video was captured on the ground by someone with a cell phone. Luckily they made it to safety.

Many neighborhoods, shopping malls and schools were leveled. Cars and trucks were left crumpled on the roadside.

Debris has been reported to be falling in Tulsa approximately 100 miles from Moore.

The same suburb was hit hard by a tornado in 1999. That storm had the highest winds ever recorded near the earth's surface.

The Klingon phrase "cha yIbaH qara'DI'" translates in English to "Fire the torpedoes!"

William Shatner requested that his name in the opening credits be 10 percent larger in size than that of his co-stars, Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley. He also sold his kidney stone a collector of oddities for $25,000.

Many elements of the Spock character were improvised by Leonard Nimoy during production. For instance, the "Vulcan neck pinch" was his suggestion.

The latest cause for failed relationships

Relationships are hard. Once the "newness" or "honeymoon" period wears off, you have to find ways to fall in love. We know this from studies and watching reality television. So watch out!

There's a new scourge that is causing relationships to flounder, marriages to crumble and chaos among co-habitants. Usually people break up over money. This is something that's deeper. It's about what you want and when you want it.

It's not about food, it's not about sex, it's not about power, unless that's the plotline of the movie you're watching.

Why's the IRS scandal getting the most attention?

The reason the IRS scandal has gotten more attention from the American people than the scandals surrounding Benghazi or the Associated Press is twofold:

1. It hits at the heart of the operation of our country because it deals with tax money.

2. The IRS needs, must, and unequivocally has, to stay a non-partisan extension of our government or else we are nothing more than some third-rate country where absolute power corrupts absolutely.
