MESA, Ariz. — A small experimental aircraft crashed
into an embankment near Higley and McDowell on Tuesday.

Forrest Smith, a Mesa Fire PIO, confirmed two people died in
the crash.

It is unknown if the plane was taking off or trying to land
at the nearby Falcon Field. In the wreckage a parachute
could be seen close to the area of the crash. Authorities believe the parachute did not open in time to stop the crash.
