SEATTLE (AP) — Police say a 16-year-old who fired two gunshots inside a Washington state high school told detectives he never intended to hurt any other students.

No one was injured Thursday at North Thurston High School in Lacey, about 60 miles southwest of Seattle, and the teen was tackled by a popular teacher. Three other staff members quickly helped secure the boy.

Police Cmdr. Jim Mack told The Olympian newspaper the boy has said “there were some issues in personal relationships.” When asked if the boy hoped for “suicide by cop,” Mack said that was a possibility.
