Main Street Minute: Phoenix library program hopes to fill schools with books

KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. These stories air each weekday on KTAR at 7:27 a.m.
• Friends of the Phoenix Public Library’s new BookStorm program is donating 300,000 children’s books to Valley schools. The program offers up to 1,000 donated books per classroom or school library. Educators can apply once per school year.
• Auto Zone is holding a job fair Thursday in the West Valley from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at its distribution center near 75th Avenue and Van Buren Street. The auto parts retailer is looking for order selectors, receivers and drivers who have a commercial driver’s license.
• The Phoenix Business Journal reports Arkansas-based Slim Chickens plans to open two East Valley locations before the year is over. One will be near near Germann and Gilbert roads, the other off Gilbert and Warner roads, both in Chandler.
