Man arrested after making bomb threat at Buckeye Wal-Mart

PHOENIX — The Buckeye Police Department responded to a bomb threat at a Wal-Mart early Sunday morning.
Officers were called in around 5:30 a.m. after a suspicious man at the store on 1060 S. Watson Road made references to a bomb inside his backpack. Wal-Mart employees and customers were evacuated, and the parking lot was then closed.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigations Bomb Squad stepped in to inspect the bag. No actual explosive devices were found.
The store was reopened just after 7:30 a.m.
The man was detained for further questioning as an investigation into the incident continues.
