Both Arias’ family and the family of victim Travis Alexander were seen near the courtroom, but no decision was made in regards to her fate.
After impasse instructions were given to the jury on Tuesday, some were optimistic a verdict would be forthcoming.
The original jurors took 15 hours to hang on the case. The new jury had deliberated more than 26 hours by Wednesday afternoon.
The jury will return about 9 a.m. Thursday.
The jurors have the option of sentencing Arias to death or life in prison. If she is spared, Judge Sherry Stephens would then decide if Arias will be eligible parole after 25 years.
