You’re not seeing things; rent has gone up this past year in Maricopa County.
According to AzFamily, Zillow reports that the price of rent has increased by 5.6 percent in the last year in the Phoenix metro area.
One reason for this problem could be simply the lack of options available. Maricopa County doesn’t have as many active listings as usual, and this is driving up the demand for rental properties, AzFamily says.
Their real estate expert says the market may take awhile to calm down and level out. Expect a decrease in rent prices in a year or two.
