PHOENIX — Arizonans and their leaders have differing opinions on what is the most important issue facing the state.
A
Rocky Mountain Poll said economic recovery tops the politicians’ rhetoric while voters chose protection of children from parental abuse and improving public education.
About three-quarters of poll participants — from 75 to 78 percent — rated these as very high priorities for Gov. Doug Ducey and the Arizona legislature.
Three other issues are ranked as high priority by half the public: funding mental health programs (58 percent), protecting Arizona’s environment (57 percent), and taking steps to get so-called “dark money” out of Arizona elections (48 percent).
The report is based on a statewide survey last month of 701 adult heads of household, including 460
registered voters.
KTAR’s Jim Cross contributed to this report.
