PHOENIX — Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps will return to competition after a six-month suspension at a meet in Mesa in the spring.
The Baltimore Sun reported Friday that Phelps will hit the pool in the Pro Swim Series scheduled for April 15-18 at Skyline Aquatic Center.
Phelps made his return to the sport at the Mesa facility last year after retiring. This time, he is coming back from a suspension after a DUI arrest.
Phelps told reporters in Munich, Germany, where he was promoting his new line of swimming equipment, that “I’ve enjoyed, lately, more than I really ever have being back in the water … It’s just me feeling I guess like me again.”
He was booted off the U.S. team after his arrest. Phelps underwent treatment for alcohol abuse in Arizona.
