PHOENIX — The City of Phoenix is preparing to submit a request for a proposal this spring to broaden its biomedical campus, Phoenix Business Journal reported.
On Tuesday, Special Projects manager Jeremy Legg told the Arizona Association for Economic Development that he is preparing to issue a request for proposal in the spring.
While there are no specific plans set in place, Legg made it clear to the association that the “door is wide open for ideas to add to the campus.”
Phoenix Biomedical Campus houses many of the medical programs from Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and Northern Arizona University, along with several other medical institutions. The campus is made up of seven buildings totaling 700,000 square feet.
By 2018, there will be 11 buildings totaling 1.7 million square feet, Legg said.
At capacity, the campus can reach six million square feet.
