PHOENIX — Although Apple will be shelling out $2 billion to establish a data center in Mesa, the company will be receiving no incentives from the government.
Gov. Doug Ducey announced Monday that the multi-billion dollar investment by Apple will create a data center on property formerly owned by First Solar Inc, Phoenix Business Journal reported.
While this deal might be seen as a success for Ducey, who spent his campaign rallying for business growth in Arizona, just 150 full-time jobs are projected for the 1.3 million-square-foot data center.
The lack of projected jobs for the new facility will cause Apple to lose out on a $10 million payout from a state recruitment fund.
The company will still be eligible for a renewable energy tax credit for manufacturers, which amounts to $1 million per year.
