PHOENIX — Super Bowl and Phoenix Open champions have been crowned and the parties are over. Now all that is left is the cleanup and that’s going to keep two areas of the Valley pretty busy.
Another successful Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale is in the books, but the real work is just starting again for crews — breaking down the structures.
Danny Callahan, tournament chairman, said it will take about 75 days to complete the job.
“We started putting it in Oct. 1. (It takes)a lot of hard work to get everything out of here and turn the golf course back over to the TPC,” he said.
Meanwhile in downtown Phoenix, the lights have been turned off at Super Bowl Central but several blocks — Central Avenue, First, Second and Third streets — are still closed just north of Jefferson Street.
Workers will have to pack up 12 blocks of stages, a rock-climbing wall, booths and other structures.
The streets should be reopened no later than Thursday.
