GLENDALE, Ariz. — The opening of Deseret Industries’ third thrift store in Arizona on Thursday is going to be a party — literally.

A 3-day grand opening event featuring live bands, dignitaries and more will mark the opening of the new store in Glendale, according to Marketing Manager Brooke Yates.

Yates said the new store, which is located near 67th Avenue and Bell Road, will have clothes, toys, electronics and more.

“We sell brand-new furniture, brand-new socks, brand-new bed sheets,” she said. “We have a section of brand-new things at (a) low cost.”

Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers and the Arizona Coyotes mascot, Howler, will be among those on hand for opening festivities on Thursday.

The new Deseret Industries store will employ 80 to 90 people as part of their career training program, but Yates said they are still looking for help.

“We don’t just give goods a new life, we help give people a second life,” she said.

The store is operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but employees don’t have to be a member of the church to work there.

Deseret Industries also has thrift stores in Mesa and Tucson.

We want to hear from you.
