TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State University law students will work with Barrow Neurological Institute researchers to obtain legal protection for medical innovations.

The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law announced Wednesday that a grant underwritten by college alum Steven G. Lisa led to the creation of a Barrow innovation center that will work with a law college clinic focusing on patent
law.

According to the law college, students working in the clinic will provide initial legal evaluations for innovations in neurosurgery tools and techniques and draft provisional patent applications.

The college says the students are supervised by licensed patent attorneys and receive hands-on experience in real-world patent matters.
