PHOENIX — Dozens of firefighters from three West Valley cities fought a blaze that consumed an abandoned movie studio early Tuesday morning.
Units from Avondale, Phoenix and Tolleson fire departments put out the fire at CJS Film Studios near Encanto Boulevard and 103rd Avenue in Avondale.
Opened in the 1980s, the studio lot was a collection of Old West storefronts and Western buildings used in movies and commercials.
The fire started in a tree, then took out a half-dozen buildings.
Smoke was visible from Interstate 10.
Avondale Fire Capt. Bob Angel said cause of the blaze was under investigation.
KTAR’s Jim Cross contributed to this report.
